Insight Executive Group are delighted to be working with a Rail Operating Company, seeking a skilled Category Manager to join their team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing complex supply chain categories.

Supporting the development of the Departmental procurement strategy and driving Category Strategies through the wider procurement team ensuring we deliver the best results for the business. The role will ensure we gain the best commercial value from our Suppliers and support our Safety, Sustainability and CSR commitments.

The location is based at Monument, London.

Day-to-day of the Category Manager:

  • Creation, development and monitoring of category strategies which maximise customer value and a drive a continuous improvement approach.
  • Provision of market insights, mark analysis, and market engagement to inform strategy development whilst representing Procurement in the supplier market for pre-tender activities.
  • Build and develop effective internal and external relationships and maintain open and productive communication with all stakeholders.
  • Developing new or existing suppliers and contracts to better meet business needs, upholding Supplier Relationship Management principles.
  • Development and implementation of cost-based reduction strategies capable of delivering annual target savings alongside supporting the Finance Business Partners with Annual Business Plan budgeting.
  • Developing procurement strategies, ensuring goods and services are appropriately specified and KPIs developed for key contracts.

The successful Category Manager will be able to demonstrate:

  • MCIPS qualified or working towards MCIPS and/or minimum of five years’ experience in a strategic procurement environment.
  • Experience of tendering with UCR 2016
  • Experience of procuring large value, complex tenders across a variety of categories
  • Experience within a compliance, systems, process- or governance-focused procurement role
  • Track record of delivering cost benefits and improvements
  • Ability to identify and deliver innovative solutions

Salary & Benefits of Category Manager

  • Salary: £65K - £68K
  • Final salary pension scheme (personal contribution 7.4%, company contribution 11.4%)
  • Hybrid working available - 2 days in the office per week
