Job Advertisement: Legal Disrepair Surveyor

Are you an experienced surveyor with a keen eye for detail and a talent for navigating complex repair cases? We are seeking a Legal Disrepair Surveyor to join our team, where you'll manage a diverse caseload involving disrepair claims, property inspections, and technical diagnostics. This role offers the opportunity to provide expert guidance, support colleagues, and occasionally represent the organization as an expert witness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Management: Handle a caseload of disrepair claims, party wall cases, and repair diagnostics, working independently to ensure issues are resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Technical Inspections & Reporting: Conduct detailed site inspections, diagnose building issues, and prepare comprehensive specifications of works using national schedules and rates.
  • Expert Witness Role: Provide technical support and expert testimony in court, as required, ensuring that all technical evidence is accurate and well-documented.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality checks on repair work, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and promptly addressing any deviations.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with legal and repair teams, contractors, and service users to maintain strong communication lines and deliver excellent service.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Qualifications: HND/C or BSc in Building Studies, or significant experience in building surveying.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of building diagnostics, repair scheduling, and relevant legislation, including housing disrepair law.
  • Communication Skills: Able to clearly articulate findings, write specifications, and provide expert evidence in both small and large group settings.
  • Self-Motivated: Capable of managing a variable caseload and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Professional Knowledge: Familiar with industry codes of practice, statutory requirements, and contract management for high-quality, compliant repairs.
