Poition: Structural CAD Technician

Location: Central London ( Hybrid)

Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 per annum, plus pension, bonus & company benefits

A position with one of the UK’s longest established independent consulting practices. Their civil and structural engineering division’s workload stretches well beyond 2030, and their CAD team now needs to expand their capacity with the addition of an experienced structural Auto CAD technician.

The Company: An engineering and property consultancy that has traded for over sixty years. They work nationally through a network of offices and are currently expanding their civil an structural capability to service secured long term work in buoyant sectors that includes significant work in power distribution, renewables and building structures.

Hybrid Working: Their CAD team works remotely most of the time, you will need to be prepared to visit their Oxford office typically one to two days per week. A work station, mobile phone and support from their IT department is provided.

Your Role: As one of a team of five technicians who work closely with their in-house structural engineers, your line manager will be the head of the CAD team. Your role will be varied and involve accompanying engineers on occasional site visits, attending design team meetings and producing CAD drawings. The emphasis will be on producing steel general arrangement drawings and ensuring specifications and procedures are adhered to.

Project Workload: Predominantly building and industrial structures for the energy, renewables, residential and commercial sectors.

Training: For someone with an interest in developing their skills there is the option to receive training in 3D CAD for the production of 3D models.

Experience Required: Four years or more AutoCAD experience with a focus on building, industrial or civil structures. Experience of preparing general arrangement drawings, and for taking responsibility for delivering accurate and timely work packages. HND, degree qualified, or equivalent. A structural technician who has worked for a consulting engineering practice, or within a contractors design office.

Profile Required: At least five years’ experience using AutoCAD that includes the production of general arrangement drawings. A consulting engineering background focused on buildings or industrial structures. You should be a team player who can collaborate with engineering colleagues to deliver accurate and timely work. A willingness to learn and develop is essential.
