A leading client of mine is looking for an analyst to join their team, where you will be working with a wealth of experience across their Power Market Modelling and Tech and Data teams.

You will be working as part of a skilled team with the access to the latest technologies. Developing cutting-edge enhancements for our optimisation models, including developing capability for our new web-based optimisation tools, where you will be able to working on projects from scratch.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimization & Modeling:
  • Develop and enhance optimization models, particularly mixed integer linear programming (MILP) models, to support power market forecasting and other energy-related projects.
  • Data Management:
  • Work with large and complex datasets to extract, manipulate, and analyse data to inform market models and decision-making processes.
  • Collaboration & Client Engagement:
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including technical and consulting experts, to develop new modeling frameworks. Work with clients to understand their needs and communicate technical solutions in a clear and concise manner, both in person and in writing.
  • Continuous Improvement:
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of optimization tools, ensuring they remain cutting-edge and meet the evolving needs of our clients. Identify areas for improvement and propose innovative solutions.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Programming Skills:
  • Proficiency in object-oriented programming, particularly inPython. Experience withC#is a plus.
  • Optimization Experience:
  • Solid experience in optimization techniques, especially mixed integer linear programming (MILP). Familiarity with other optimization methods is a bonus.
  • Power Market Knowledge:
  • A good understanding of European power markets is highly desirable, with a focus on market dynamics, policies, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Data Handling:
  • Experience working with large datasets, including data cleaning, transformation, and analysis.
  • Communication Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Analytical & Logical Thinking:
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a clear ability to break down complex problems into logical components and communicate these effectively.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, contributing to joint problem-solving and knowledge sharing.

Must have skill:

  • Working experience in optimisation, specifically mixed integer linear programming - This is a must for this role.
