Assistant Tax Manager
Reports to Head of Tax
Purpose of the Role
Tax Compliance Assist the Tax Manager with the preparation and filing of all UK and Overseas tax returns collaborating with professional advisors and Atrium staff.
This includes but is not limited to:
UK Corporate legal entity and Syndicate tax returns.
UK Group and Syndicate VAT returns.
US Federal, Franchise, State and City returns.
Canadian GST returns.
PSA (PAYE settlement Agreement) calculations. Assistant Tax Manager

?Tax Accounting & reporting
Ensure timely and accurate tax reporting, meeting all statutory deadlines.
Ensure all tax payments on account are calculated accurately and liaise with Accounts Payable and Treasury teams to ensure that tax payments are made on time.
Completion of tasks and returns as set out in the Lloyds reporting timetable.
Assist the Tax Manager with the quarterly and annual tax provisions, including the preparation of tax balances for financial statements and tax account reconciliations.

?Tax Risk Management
Assist in providing support to the Compliance team to ensure the business complies with the Corporate Criminal Offence (CCO) Guiding Defence Principles and legislative requirements and regular training is provided to relevant teams.
Assist with update of tax process and control documentation.
Assist with IPT review checks.



?Tax Digital
Seek opportunities to develop use of technology to provide a more automated tax function.

?Required Knowledge & Skills
Relevant experience in a tax role ideally in the insurance and Lloyds market, but not essential. The ideal candidate will be working in a regulated industry.
ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified, or equivalent tax qualification (e.g. CTA) desirable.
Good experience of VAT and indirect tax, mixed tax knowledge desirable.
Knowledge of taxation rules as applicable to financial statements.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex tax legislation and apply it to business scenarios.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
IT skills Excel, Word, PowerPoint

Able to communicate technical tax points and provide tax guidance to colleagues in a clear, concise manner which is easily understood. This may be required verbally or in written report format and emails.

Relationship Management
Able to develop and maintain relationships with Head of Finance and CFO, other finance managers, other department managers, other executives, auditors and external tax consultants, other Lloyds market tax managers and fiscal authorities.

Able to always operate to the standards and rules of the regulatory bodies and those set out in the firms standards documents. Personal Development
