About the RoleWe are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Revenues and Benefits Officer to support our subsidy and income collection functions. This role plays a vital part in ensuring accurate subsidy claims, maximising council revenue, and maintaining effective income collection processes. You will be responsible for processing benefit subsidies, reconciling income records, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and statutory deadlines.
Key Responsibilities-
Assist in preparing and submitting Housing Benefit subsidy claims, ensuring accuracy and compliance with government regulations.

Monitor, reconcile, and report on income collection across Council Tax, Business Rates, and Housing Benefit overpayments.

Investigate and resolve discrepancies in subsidy claims and income records to prevent financial losses.

Work closely with internal finance teams, external auditors, and government agencies to ensure funding accuracy.

Support the development of income collection strategies to maximise recovery and minimise arrears.

Respond to customer and stakeholder enquiries regarding benefit subsidies, payments, and debt recovery.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in revenue collection and subsidy management.

Experience in revenues, benefits, income collection, or financial reconciliation (public sector experience desirable).

Strong understanding of Housing Benefit subsidy regulations and income recovery processes.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain financial matters clearly to a range of stakeholders.

Proficiency in revenues and benefits software, as well as Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.
- Council or local authority experience is a must.
