We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Data Cabling Engineer to join our growing team, working on exciting and high-profile projects across London and beyond.

Job Description:

As a Data Cabling Engineerfor our client, you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and testing of copper and fibre optic cabling systems for data centres and enterprise environments. You will work alongside our expert team to ensure the successful deployment of data cabling solutions, adhering to the highest industry standards for safety, precision, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, terminate, and test copper (Cat5, Cat6, Cat6a) and fibre optic cables across data centres and commercial sites.
• Perform troubleshooting, repairs, and upgrades on existing data cabling and network infrastructure.
• Carry out site surveys to assess and plan cabling layouts, ensuring accuracy and adherence to client specifications.
• Collaborate with network engineers and project managers to ensure timely project completion and quality assurance.
• Use testing equipment such as OTDRs, cable certifiers, and splicing tools to ensure optimal performance of fibre optic cables.
• Adhere to Health & Safety protocols and company policies while working on-site.
• Keep detailed records of installations, test results, and any necessary maintenance activities.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Experience in structured cabling installations, including Cat5, Cat6, and fibre optics.
• Understanding of industry standards such as TIA/EIA, ISO/IEC, and BICSI, with the ability to implement these in projects.
• Experience working in data centres or critical infrastructure environments is a plus.
• Proficient in using testing and diagnostic tools, such as OTDRs and certifiers.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and cabling schematics.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and under minimal supervision.
• Valid CSCS/ECS card (preferred but not essential).

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience in data cabling and fibre optic installations.
• Experience working in high-security or mission-critical environments (e.g., data centres, financial institutions).
• Knowledge of network infrastructure components, including switches, routers, and patch panels.
