InterQuest Group are seeking a strategic and experienced leader to Head the Enterprise Applications team, with a focus on driving adoption and optimisation of Workday technologies for one of our leading clients. This role will oversee the development, integration, and continuous improvement of Workday solutions, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to influence executives and stakeholders to secure buy-in and promote organisation-wide engagement with the platform.

Key Responsibilities

As the Head of Enterprise Applications, you will lead a team of Workday specialists, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture. You will oversee the design, configuration, and optimisation of Workday modules, including HCM, Finance, Payroll, and Adaptive Planning, ensuring the platform meets evolving business needs. By driving adoption and influencing stakeholders, you will position Workday as a central pillar of the organisation’s digital strategy.

You will lead integration efforts, ensuring seamless data flow between Workday and other enterprise systems to improve efficiency and scalability. Working closely with executives, you will prioritise initiatives, establish governance frameworks, and align platform enhancements with strategic objectives. You will also act as a champion for change, promoting engagement through effective communication, a clear implementation roadmap, and stakeholder involvement at all levels.

In addition to driving Workday adoption, you will manage risks, ensure compliance with data security standards, and deliver enterprise-wide projects using Agile methodologies. As a mentor and coach, you will support your team’s development and embed a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the platform evolves with the organisation’s needs.

Experience and Competencies

  • Proven experience leading enterprise application teams, with a focus on Workday.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills to secure executive and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Expertise in Workday modules (HCM, Finance, Payroll, Adaptive Planning) and integration tools.
  • Strategic mindset, aligning platform capabilities with organisational goals.
  • Experience delivering complex projects using Agile methodologies.
  • Familiarity with IT governance, data security, and compliance.

Desirable:

  • Certifications in Workday (HCM, Financial Management, Adaptive Planning).
  • Knowledge of related systems 
  • Experience in research, education, or similarly complex environments.
  • Technical understanding in software development languages, frameworks, and methodologies (e.g. Agile, DevOps, SAFe).
  • Use of an ITIL-based service, change and incident management approach.
  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Professional certifications in managing development processes such as Project Management Programme (PMP), Professional Scrum Master (PSM) or similar
  • Experience with cloud-based application development and integration (e.g., AWS, Azure).
