Turnaround Train Cleaner

Day Shift Role – 35 hours a week

Based at St Pancras

6-month initial contract with the opportunity to join on a permanent basis

Ganymede Solutions are working with a large, innovative UK Train Operating Company who are seeking to recruit a Turnaround Train Cleaner to join the Train Cleaning team based at St Pancras. Ganymede Solutions are a stock market recognised recruitment agency, specialising in the transportation, infrastructure, construction and engineering sectors on both permanent and contract basis.

The company covers the East Midlands, Northwest of England, Yorkshire and the Humber, Bedfordshire, Norfolk and Staffordshire. They operate at over 140 stations and have a large fleet of 277 trains.

Ganymede are looking to hire someone with a ‘go getter’ attitude who isn’t afraid to get stuck in and can lead a team by example.

 

The Role:

As a Turnaround Train Cleaner, you have 15/20-minute window to carry out a full turnaround clean on the train once it has terminated at St Pancras Station. For this role, we are looking for someone who can manage their time, is efficient at working to tight deadlines and has a keen eye for detail, as the nature of the role is very fast paced.

As a Turnaround Train Cleaner, your duties are as follows:

• Wiping down/sanitizing tables and touch points

• Picking up litter

• Changing and replacing bin bags 

• Cleaning and restocking toilets 

• General tidying of the train, making it presentable for its next journey

• Walk throughs to ensure check the train is clean 

 

The Hours:

As a Turnaround Train Cleaner, you will be working on a 4 week shift roster, working across Sunday – Saturday. The roster is as follows:

 

Week 1:

Monday – Thursday working from 06:00 – 14:45.

 

Week 2:

Wednesday – Friday working from 14:30 – 23:15, then working Saturday 13:30 – 22:15 and then working Sunday 10:15 – 22:15.

 

Week 3: 

Monday and Tuesday working from 14:30 – 23:15, then Friday and Saturday working from 06:00 – 14:45.

 

Week 4:

This is the GPR (General Purpose Roster), and you will get four to five shifts, the hours and days will vary each time to suit the team’s requirements.

 

Remuneration & Benefits:

This rail company has on offer the following for contract staff:

• £13.52p/h is your standard hour rate (up to 35 hours)

• £14.87 for anything above hour 36 onwards

• Progression routes – Our client is hiring into their business on a permanent basis after an initial phase on a 6-month contract. Requirements:

• Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol test 

• Be able to pass a full rail medical – this will include, sight, hearing, colourisation, heart, lungs, brain, etc

• Provide your Right to Work documents before deployment 

• Happy to help mentality/attitude 

• A decent fitness, keen eye for detail and being punctual are required for this role
