As a Lead BMS Commissioning Engineer, you will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning, testing, and optimisation of a Schneider-based Building Management System (BMS) on a major construction project. You will act as the technical lead on-site, liaising with contractors, ensuring compliance with specifications, and delivering a fully operational BMS that meets project standards.
This contract position is expected to fall outside of IR35, offering an immediate start and a duration of 6-7 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end commissioning of a Schneider StruxureWare/EcoStruxure BMS.
- Conduct pre-commissioning and full commissioning of BMS control panels, field devices, and networked systems.
- Ensure software and system configurations are optimised for performance and efficiency.
- Identify and resolve technical issues, ensuring smooth integration with mechanical and electrical systems.
- Work alongside installation teams, project managers, and third-party contractors to deliver a fully functioning system.
- Represent the client in site meetings, ensuring technical and commissioning requirements are met.
- Prepare and manage commissioning packs, documentation, and compliance reports.
- Collate commissioning reports, snag lists, and testing certificates.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to site teams on BMS commissioning best practices.
- Ensure commissioning activities adhere to industry standards and project specifications.
- Conduct system performance testing and validation to confirm operational compliance.
- Maintain high safety standards and ensure all work follows site health & safety regulations.
Skills Required
- Extensive commissioning experience with Schneider StruxureWare/EcoStruxure BMS platforms.
- Strong knowledge of BMS control systems, integration, and field devices.
- Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, points lists, and project specifications.
- Proven ability to lead commissioning teams and represent clients in site meetings.
- Experience preparing and managing commissioning reports, snag lists, and compliance documentation.
- Full understanding of BMS communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
- CSCS/ECS cardholder.
- Previous experience on major construction projects.
- Familiarity with energy management strategies and BMS system optimisation.
