Role Purpose:

The role involves inspecting, recording, and reporting on street works, licenses, highway infrastructure, and surface apparatus defects. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and help maximize income for the Council.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct systematic and ad hoc highway inspections and surveys.
  • Issue notices and instructions to utility companies and contractors.
  • Record and report on safety and defect inspections.
  • Hold site meetings to minimize disruption.
  • Assist in coordinating public highway activities.
  • Use IT systems to manage data and improve efficiency.
  • Support emergency response efforts as needed.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Essential:

    • Street Works (NRSWA) Accreditation - Supervisor.
    • Practical experience in the Highways or Street Works industry.
    • Knowledge of relevant legislation (Highways Act 1980, New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, etc.).
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent IT skills.
  • Desirable:

    • Membership of a relevant environmental institution.
    • Experience with integrated Highway Maintenance policies and processes.
    • Experience working with CONFIRM.
