Job Title: Car Pound Officer (Band E) Location: Charlton, Greenwich Salary: £17.90 Employment Type: Full-Time Recruitment Partner: Service Care is assisting the Greater London Authority (GLA) and Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) in recruiting for this role.

Job Advert:Join the Metropolitan Police Service as a Car Pound Officer during an exciting time of transformation. The Vehicle Recovery Examination Services (VRES) tackles vehicle crime in London, working with various agencies to manage vehicles involved in collisions, serious crimes, or those seized for no insurance or unlicensed use. We support frontline policing 24/7/365, processing around 40,000 vehicles annually at our Perivale and Charlton compounds. Key Responsibilities:

  • Process the storage, movement, and administration of all recovered vehicles and property.
  • Confirm vehicle identities using police systems and specialist equipment.
  • Support criminal investigations and maintain evidence continuity.
  • Provide excellent service to customers, ensuring legal owners get their vehicles back.
  • Handle payments, provide administrative support, and liaise with service providers.
  • Learn and use various IT systems and perform checks.
  • Maintain local and organisational policies and health and safety protocols.
  • Work in all weather conditions and handle heavy-duty manual work.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Criteria:

  • HR experience and understanding of HR functions.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
  • ELS and OST training (training will be provided if not already trained).

Additional Information:

  • Working hours: Mondays to Fridays, no shifts.
