We are seeking a dedicated Technician for our Motor Vehicle Section, based in Uxbridge. This role involves ensuring the general maintenance and undertaking simple repairs of equipment, assisting lecturers in preparing resources for teaching, and maintaining high standards of health and safety.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Regularly service and maintain tools and equipment within the Motor Vehicle Section.
  • Carry out risk assessments in conjunction with the Course Team Leader and Section Manager, recommending improvements.
  • Report any major maintenance tasks to ensure minimal impact on teaching and learning.
  • Manage stock levels of materials and tools to support effective teaching and learning.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of teaching environments.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety and environmental requirements in collaboration with the Head of School.
  • Supervise and support students in the teaching areas, focusing on health and safety and good working practices.
  • Assist in preparing materials and setting up equipment for teaching sessions.
  • Collaborate with other Technicians to ensure continuity of provision across the School of Engineering.
  • Participate in first aid training and potentially serve as a first aider within the College.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing motor vehicle equipment.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments and manage inventory.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining health and safety standards.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to undertake training and development as required.
