The CollegeA leading Further Education and Training College in South London, dedicated to providing high-quality education to learners of all backgrounds, are currently looking to recruit an experienced English Lecturer to deliver Functional Skills from Entry Level 1 (E1) to Level 1 (L1).Job DescriptionAs an English Lecturer, you will be required to deliver engaging and effective Functional Skills English lessons to students at Entry Level 1 to Level 1. The role will involve creating a cohesive learning environment, developing lesson plans and assessing student progress.This is a temporary ongoing position, offering four days of teaching per week (excluding Tuesdays). We are looking for a candidate to start as soon as possible.

Key Duties of an English Lecturer:

  • Deliver high-quality Functional Skills English lessons to students at Entry Level 1 to Level 1.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans and learning materials.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Provide assistance for students' academic and personal development.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress and achievement.
  • Work with colleagues and attend team meetings as required.

Skills & Experience Required of an English Lecturer:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, CertEd, or equivalent) is essential.
  • Experience in delivering Functional Skills English to learners at E1-L1 level is highly desirable.
  • A strong comprehension of the challenges faced by learners in further education and training.
  • Ability to create engaging and varied lesson plans that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A dedication to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion in education.
  • Enhanced Child DBS- An enhanced DBS check with a child barring list check will be required for this role.
