Job Advert: Functional Skills English LecturerDepartment:Adult Learning and Skills Service Role DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Functional Skills English Lecturer to join our Adult Learning and Skills Service team. This role involves planning, delivering, assessing, and evaluating classroom activities to maximise learners' achievement and success.About the RoleTeaching and Classroom Duties:1. Deliver an agreed programme of study using a variety of approaches to maximise learners’ achievement and success.2. Negotiate and agree learning outcomes, then monitor, assess, review, and record learners' progress and achievement.3. Provide appropriate pre-course, on-course information, advice, and assessment to support learners' progress and identify potential next steps.4. Ensure learners are correctly enrolled and report their attendance, progress, and achievement.5. Ensure compliance with service policies for any approved visitors present in the classroom or service buildings.Other Duties:1. Prepare and assess work required for learners to successfully complete their learning programme.2. Provide necessary information or reports for students to be entered for exams or other forms of accreditation or assessment.3. Design and develop courses and programmes in line with the service’s agreed objectives and priorities.4. Provide written information on courses and programmes for dissemination to other interested parties as required.5. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of pertinent professional developments and participate in the service’s CPD programme.6. Attend and contribute to team and service meetings as required.7. Contribute to service-wide initiatives, developments, and events.8. Participate in the annual professional cover duty rota.9. Actively contribute to agreed Quality Improvement strategies and plans, including the annual self-assessment cycle, to improve the success and achievements of the service.10. Promote and work within the Council’s policies on Equal Opportunities, challenging discrimination and disadvantage in all areas of racism, sexism, disability, and sexual orientation.11. Adhere to the Service and Council's policies and procedures, including health and safety, data protection, and financial regulations, and raise any concerns with an appropriate manager.12.
