Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Theatre Technician to join our Performing Arts Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining our theatre facilities, supporting school productions, and assisting in the delivery of technical theatre education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for all school productions, including lighting, sound, set design, and special effects.
  • Maintenance: Ensure the theatre equipment and facilities are well-maintained, safe, and up-to-date.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Performing Arts Department, students, and external production teams to deliver high-quality performances.
  • Training: Assist in training students and staff in the use of theatre equipment and safety protocols.
  • Event Management: Support the planning and execution of school events, assemblies, and performances.
  • Inventory Management: Manage the inventory of technical equipment and materials, ensuring availability and functionality.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in theatre lighting, sound systems, set construction, and stage management.
  • Experience: Previous experience as a theatre technician, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Education: A relevant qualification in technical theatre or a related field is desirable.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
