MENG is a small, entrepreneurial company with endless curiosity and big ambitions.  We are seeking an experienced Creative Writer / Novelist / Literary Non-Fiction Author to work with the founder of the company to finalise the manuscript of a memoir. This is an ideal job for someone with proven creative writing skills who is looking for a long-form project.

 

About the role

You will be:

  • Working with the founder of the company to refine the existing manuscript of a memoir to a publishable standard.

 

Experience / skills required

The successful candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of creative writing and storytelling to a publishable standard, ideally in the form of a novel/literary non-fiction
  • The ability to tell non-fiction stories in a compelling, novelistic style, drawing on techniques from fiction
  • A polished writing style, showing sensitivity to emotion and place
  • The ability to structure stories across a manuscript the length of a novel
  • The capacity to weave deeper philosophical or psychological insights into non-fiction stories
  • The ability to edit the writing of others to a publishable standard
  • The flexibility to shift focus and pursue new ideas when needed
  • The ability to establish rapport with colleagues.

 

The offer

  • This is an initial 6-month contract with the potential to review. 
  • There is room for working flexibly, from 1 to 2 days a week. 
  • Most work can be done remotely, though you must be able to attend frequent meetings in London. 
  • Competitive salary is based on experience and hours worked. Immediate start.
