Job Title: Assistant Farm Manager Location: LoughboroughSalary: 34-46k Contract Type: Permanent

Role Purpose:Support a research-oriented dairy facility, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, operational efficiency, and compliance with legal and safety standards. Act as Deputy for the Farm Manager in their absence and contribute to the management of daily farm operations, including herd welfare, hygiene, and machinery upkeep

Key Responsibilities:

  • Animal Welfare: Oversee herd health, monitoring behaviour, administering care, and managing the birthing process
  • Operational Management: Coordinate feeding, hygiene, and machinery use. Ensure equipment and facilities are maintained safely and effectively
  • Staff Supervision: Direct farm staff, set schedules, assign tasks, and ensure quality performance
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with academic researchers, students, and external visitors. Coordinate with veterinarians and industry professionals to maintain welfare standards
  • Compliance: Adhere to Health & Safety policies, maintain Home Office license standards, and ensure Red Tractor accreditation

Requirements:

  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, animal handling, and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience: Prior experience in dairy farm management and team supervision
  • Qualifications: Degree/HND in Agriculture or extensive relevant experience. Driver’s license required
