  • BPB, part of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland, is seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer with a focus on process design for their GMT team in East Leake, Loughborough.
  • The role requires proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk Inventor, a Mechanical Engineering degree, and at least 6 months of global travel per year to oversee projects.
  • Candidates should have a proven record in plant engineering, maintenance, or design, along with knowledge of safety management systems and bulk solid handling.
  • Key responsibilities include developing designs for capital projects, managing contractor resources, and commissioning new equipment and processes.
  • The position offers a competitive salary and values inclusivity and flexibility in the workplace.

As a Project Mechanical Engineer with experience in process design, surely you want to be working some of the most technologically advanced process plants, right?

And when you play such a key role in the design of those processes, you want to be on site in the countries the plants are being built in, to make sure they meet the exact requirements you've spent your time and energy designing, right?

At BPB (part of Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland), as part of the GMT (Gypsum Manufacturing Technology) team, we're looking for a ProjectMechanical Process Engineer to play a key part in our mission to develop, design, and build new gypsum factories, as well as update existing sites with new equipment and processes.

You'll use your mechanical design and AutoDesk Inventor/3D design knowledge, as well as your experience working on process plants, and the ability to create tender documentation and manage suppliers, to really make a difference in this role.

The role is full time and to be based in East Leake, Loughborough. For at least 6 months of the year, you will be outside of the UK at various projects, globally (generally speaking this will never be for more than 3 weeks at a time).

You will be working on concurrent projects, so will be travelling between these and the countries they are located in as and when necessary.

What we're looking for:

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD/Autodesk Inventor and ability to work on plant design using both 2D and 3D software
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • Comprehensive knowledge of safety management systems and standards
  • An understanding of bulk solid handling and measurement or liquid storage and handling
  • Proven record of working in a plant within an automated environment as well as time spent in a plant engineering, maintenance or design capacity

What you will be doing:

  • Develop initial designs and layouts for capital projects, and then expand them into detailed plans and drawings.
  • Provide feasibility studies, specifications and budget estimates for capital schemes
  • Implement approved capital projects of limited size or delegated sections of larger capital projects to achieve completion to specification, budget and programme.
  • Manage Contractor resources.
  • Ensure full documentation of all projects and systems.
  • Provide training for operators and maintenance personnel
  • Support Project Managers, Lead Engineers, Senior Engineers on major projects undertaken by GMT worldwide or existing operations to deliver installations on time and to budget
  • Commissioning of new equipment and processes
