Are you a qualified English teacher, graduate, or ECT with a passion for supporting students with SEMH and learning disabilities? If so, GSL Education are seeking an enthusiastic English Tutor to join an innovative and progressive SEN provision in Leicestershire.

About the School: This school is an innovative institution that values colleagues who are passionate and eager to contribute their ideas to create impactful and effective learning experiences for all students. They are looking to appoint an experienced English Teacher to support children with SEMH and learning disabilities, aiming to enhance attainment and engagement.

As an English Tutor, you will be responsible for delivering tailored English lessons to students with SEMH and additional learning needs, helping to improve attainment, engagement, and confidence. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire and support students who require a personalised learning approach.

English Tutor Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons adapted to students’ individual needs.
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to improve literacy and language skills.
  • Use creative and innovative strategies to boost confidence and motivation.
  • Implement behaviour management techniques to create a positive learning environment.
  • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring they achieve their full potential.
  • Collaborate with SEN staff, parents, and external agencies to provide holistic support.

English Tutor Requirements:

  • Degree in English or a related field. 
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEN, or alternative provisions.
  • Candidates must be able to provide teaching references from previous placements.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrate a proven ability to raise and sustain attainment levels while maintaining high educational standards.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to maximising student performance and fostering exceptional progress for all learners.
  • Be an enthusiastic and highly motivated professional who leads by example.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
