The NPD Technologist will be responsible for supporting in the development of new products for a world leading manufacturer

  • Assist in Product Development: Support the development of new food products from concept to launch, including formulation, testing, and scaling up processes.
  • Creating product formulations based on customer briefs.
  • Conduct Market Research: Gather and analyse market data, consumer trends, and competitive products to identify opportunities and inform product development.
  • Support Ingredient Selection: Help in selecting and sourcing ingredients, ensuring they meet quality standards and align with the product’s requirements.
  • Testing of kitchen samples in order to keep good records
  • Participate in Product Testing: Conduct sensory evaluations, stability tests, and other assessments to ensure product quality and consistency.
  • Assist with Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate records of product formulations, test results, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with Cross-functional Teams: Work closely with marketing, production, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless product development and launch.
  • Monitor Production Trials: Assist in overseeing pilot and full-scale production trials to ensure products are manufactured according to specifications.
  • Update and Report Progress: Track project milestones and provide regular updates to senior NPD team members and stakeholders.
  • Adhere to Regulatory Standards: Ensure all new products comply with relevant food safety and regulatory requirements, including labelling and nutritional information.
  • Covering for the NPD Manager when required.
  • Cleaning and maintenance of the NPD area and kitchen

Ensuring stock ingredients are replenished like, stock rotations, ordering ingredients from suppliers

Skills & Qualifications. 

  • Have a qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or Product Development
  • Have prior experience within food manufacturing or another relevant production environment/industry
  • Be methodical and rigorous and work with a high attention to detail
  • Be a team player who can also work well cross-functionally
  • Have a Basic Food Hygiene certificate or can demonstrate awareness of food safety procedures
  • Be a confident user of computers and technology
