We are looking for a Housing Options Officer to join the team of a well-established organisation in the Loughborough area, on a temporary basis. This role will be a great opportunity to gain further experience in the housing sector, within an organisation that put their customers first, helping to prevent and relive homelessness.

Housing Options Officer

Monday to Friday/ 37hrs

Temporary - 12 weeks plus

16-18ph paid weekly

As a Housing options Officer, your main responsibilities will be:

  • Provide advice and assistance in relation to housing rights, responsibilities and options, in order to support customers to prevent / relieve their homelessness
  • Investigate, assess, and determine homeless applications
  • Carry out related suitability assessments and ensure the best use of available accommodation
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns, in line with council policies and procedures
  • Arrange, manage and monitor interim / temporary accommodation placements, including payment of charges, satisfactory behaviour and adherence to other terms and conditions, and ensure the number and duration of placements is minimised wherever possible

To be successful as a Housing Options Officer, you will need:

Previous experience in a similar role (homelessness officer/ homelessness prevention officer/ housing options advisor/ accommodation officer etc)

  • Experience dealing with housing allocations/ homelessness cases
  • Have good knowledge of section 21 and section 8
  • Enhanced DBS required
