We are recruiting for a specialist college in the East Midlands that provides education and training to young people with learning disabilities and communication challenges. They are currently seeking an English and/or Maths Tutor to join their team on a part-time, permanent basis (three days a week). This independent, community-based specialist college supports young people with a range of learning needs and communication difficulties.

As a Tutor, you will help students improve their literacy and numeracy skills, whether they are working towards formal qualifications or achieving specific learning goals. You will also deliver tailored interventions to meet individual needs, supporting their transition into adulthood.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that caters to each student's needs and EHCP outcomes, while providing opportunities for growth and challenge to help them succeed in adult life.
  • Deliver engaging and effective teaching, learning, and assessment strategies that support students' progression towards their goals, backed by thorough planning and documentation.
  • Develop and use innovative, age-appropriate resources to increase student engagement, incorporating community resources to enrich the learning experience.
  • Actively participate in quality assurance processes, continuously reflecting on and improving your teaching practice through professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with tutors, learning support assistants, and other staff members to provide integrated learning experiences across all areas.
  • Take responsibility for the delivery, tracking, and achievement of student qualifications and RARPA outcomes.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to for the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • PGCE / CertEd teaching qualification (or equivalent)
  • Level 3 or higher in English and Maths
  • Assessor qualification (D32 / A1 / TAQA) or willingness to work towards this
  • Proven experience in teaching with strong curriculum knowledge
  • A genuine commitment to improving the lives of students, with a passion for promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
