We are seeking an experienced and motivated Financial Controller to join our client, a dynamic and fast-paced online FMCG business based in Loughton, Essex. Reporting directly to the Finance Director, this is a hands-on role where you will manage a small but highly efficient finance team, taking full ownership of the day-to-day financial operations and contributing to the company’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities:

Financial Management: Oversee and manage all financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.

Management Accounts / Nominal Ledger

  • Produce accurate and informative monthly management accounts with commentary
  • Prepare and analyse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) on a monthly basis
  • Calculation and posting of all monthly accruals and prepayments to the nominal ledger
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring nominal codes are reconciled at month end and y/e
  • Monthly transaction analysis to finalise trial balance for management accounts preparation

Cash Flow Management, Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Regular cash flow monitoring, tracking transactions and reviewing working capital
  • Regular reviews of aged debtors and aged creditors and acting thereon
  • Monitor and maintain GBP and USD bank accounts and reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing regular financial forecasts and the annual budgeting process

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, ensuring high performance and engagement.

Reporting: Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports, including P&L, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to the Finance Director and other stakeholders.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including tax filings, audits, and regulatory reporting.

Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in financial processes and systems to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with other departments, providing financial insights and support to aid strategic decision-making.

Cash Flow Management: Monitor and manage the company’s cash flow, ensuring liquidity and optimal working capital levels.

System Oversight: Oversee the use of financial software and ensure its effective utilization across the business.

Ad Hoc Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support business initiatives and evaluate new opportunities.
