The Role: I am recruiting a highly experienced and technically proficient Paraplanner to join the team at David Smith Financial Services, a Chartered Financial Planning firm based in Loughton, Essex (IG10). The successful Paraplanner will ideally be Chartered (Diploma qualified as a minimum) and will become the technical 'go to’ in the office, keeping abreast of industry changes and supporting the Partners in delivering an outstanding financial planning service to a wide range of technically complex, high net worth clients.

The successful Paraplanner will be responsible for technical research, cash flow modelling, report writing, producing recommendations and supporting with the building and implementation of the financial planning solutions required to meet a variety of clients’ needs and personal goals.

Salary and Benefits: £65,000 - £80,000 basic salary (dependant on experience) + benefits including 34 days holiday (including bank holidays and 3 days holiday between Christmas and New Year) + early finish on Fridays + 8.5% employers’ contribution pension + life insurance + private medical insurance + income protection benefit + ongoing professional training and development. This is ideally a full-time, office-based role, but we are happy to consider flexible working hours and a degree of home working for the right candidate.

Having entered a new chapter in the business’ life with further plans to grow and develop, the Senior Paraplanner will be an integral member of the team, whose input and ideas will be welcomed and whose experience will be valued.

Senior Paraplanner, Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Financial Planners to deliver a highly personalised holistic financial planning service.
  • Create agendas for client meetings, work to understand the client’s financial situation and use cash flow modelling to prepare and write financial plans and post meeting reports.
  • Undertake technical research and financial analysis to support the Financial Planners/ Advisers in identifying suitable solutions for the client.
  • Analyse portfolios, benchmarking, rebalancing and on-going portfolio maintenance.
  • Discuss complex cases with the Partners, making suggestions and recommendations.
  • Become the technical 'go to’ within the office, working as a support to the Financial Planners and as a mentor to the less experienced Paraplanners.
  • Work with the administrative support team to ensure recommendations are implemented and the highest level of client service is delivered.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of developments in the financial planning industry, including legislation and technology.
  • Contribute to development of best practice within the Financial Planning Team and wider firm initiatives.

Senior Paraplanner, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ paraplanning experience.
  • Diploma in Financial Planning (Dip PFS), ideally a Chartered Financial Planner.
  • Knowledge in all areas of financial planning (investment and wealth management, pensions and retirement planning, protection, inheritance and tax planning etc), with experience of cashflow modelling and of working with a broad range of high-net-worth clients.
  • A strong technology and mathematical aptitude (knowledge of Voyant and Intelliflo is preferable but not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Highly organised and methodical, with excellent attention to detail.
  • A strong relationship builder and collaborative team player with a customer centric approach.
