Senior IT Engineer

Location: Loughton, Essex

Salary: £30,000 - £55,000 per annum

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional individual to work closely with the managing director of a busy Accountancy & Tax practice and Property Development Company working on projects in North East London/West Essex.

The Role

In this role, you will be expected to provide first class support in overseeing and ensuring the smooth functioning of critical IT infrastructure, encompassing operating systems, security tools, applications, servers, email systems, laptops, desktops, software, and hardware.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing efficient and reliable networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN), while configuring software, servers, routers, and other network components.
  • Monitoring network performance and integrity, proactively troubleshoot cloud and local infrastructure issues, and streamline tasks through automation.
  • Implementing robust backup procedures for servers, ensuring comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Proposing enhancements to optimise network performance, capacity, and scalability.
  • Planned, organised, controlled, and assessed IT and electronic data operations.
  • Spearheaded the design, development, implementation, and coordination of servers, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensured alignment with user needs and server functionality, effectively contributing to organisational policy.
  • Provide help desk and technical services assistance to on-site and remote employees.
  • Manage all aspects of the implementation and operation of information and functional systems for the organisation, including software applications, network, phone systems and end-user computers.

  • Sound knowledge of servers and troubleshooting issues with Microsoft exchange and technical errors.
  • Sound knowledge of CCTV and any technical issues.

Personal Attributes:

  • Ability to build strong professional relationship with others at all levels of the business
  • Ability to work proactively under own initiative and to take ownership of tasks allocated to them
  • Clean UK driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles (not essential)
  • Experience of 3 years in a similar role (desirable)
