Are you a commercially astute Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager looking for an opportunity to lead and drive the financial success of a growing main contractor. Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to oversee the commercial function of a £10 million turnover business, ensuring profitability, efficiency, and strong client relationships.

The Role:

As Managing QS / Commercial Manager, you will take full ownership of the commercial management of our projects, working across refurbishment and maintenance. You’ll lead a small team, manage cost control, and work closely with the senior leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial management of projects, ensuring cost efficiency and profitability
  • Manage and mentor a team of QSs, ensuring best practices and high performance
  • Oversee procurement, valuations, variations, and final accounts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • Identify and mitigate commercial risks, ensuring robust cost control
  • Work closely with directors on forecasting, budgeting, and financial reporting
  • Ensure contracts and framework agreements are managed effectively

What They’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience as a Managing QS or Commercial Manager in a main contracting environment
  • Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Ability to manage a £10m turnover across multiple projects
  • Excellent negotiation, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in social housing, refurbishment, or planned maintenance (preferred)
  • Commercially driven with a strategic mindset

Salary:

Up to £90k plus car / allowance
