An outstanding secondary school located in the heart of Loughton is seeking an experienced Design and Technology Technician to join their dynamic and growing team! This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fantastic DT department, supporting students as they explore various aspects of the design world through the GCSE Design Technology Product Design curriculum.

As a Design and Technology Technician in Loughton, you will play a key role in helping students develop essential skills in graphic design, material use, and modern industrial manufacturing processes. You will assist with practical lessons, ensure equipment is maintained, and support students in investigating influential designers and understanding the process of product marketing for specific target markets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the Design and Technology department in delivering practical lessons, including preparation and organization of materials and equipment
  • Assist students in using tools and equipment safely and effectively
  • Maintain and repair equipment in the Design and Technology workshop
  • Provide technical support for lessons, helping students with graphic design techniques, materials selection, and manufacturing processes
  • Contribute to the overall success of the Design and Technology department, working closely with teachers and students
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Design and Technology Technician, ideally in a school setting
  • Strong knowledge of graphic design techniques, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Excellent organizational and technical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to supporting students' learning and creativity in Design and Technology
