Job Title: Temporary Quality Lab Technician

Location: Louth, UK (DS Smith)
Contract Length: 28th October 2024 - 28th January 2025 (3 months, with potential for extension)
Shift Pattern: Monday-Thursday 08:00 to 16:30, Friday 08:00 to 16:00 (42 hours/week)
Rate:11.44 per hour
Breaks: Paid

Are you an experienced Lab Technician or looking for a temporary role in a lab setting? Do you consider yourself organised, detail-oriented, and able to work as part of a busy quality assurance team? If you're based in or around Louth, we have a fantastic opportunity for you withDS Smith, a leading provider of sustainable packaging solutions.

This temporary role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills and a good understanding of quality processes. The position supports the Quality Lab team, helping to maintain high standards of quality control for corrugated board and case testing. While the initial contract is for 3 months, there ispotential for extension.

Responsibilities:

  • Collecting and preparing samples for testing
  • Conducting lab tests and recording data accurately
  • Entering data into the divisional testing database
  • Supporting site improvement projects and sales designs
  • Performing ad hoc testing to support customer requests and product investigations
  • Assisting with maintaining lab housekeeping standards
  • Supporting quality control checks during production

Essential Requirements:

  • PC literate with a good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel)
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy levels
  • Ability to manage tasks independently
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable Requirements:

  • Previous lab experience, ideally in a packaging or quality environment
  • Basic understanding of lab testing equipment
