Supply Desk are currently working with an exceptional SEND school in Chatham that are seeking a full-time, long-term Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible until the end of the academic year. About the Role:

As an SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting secondary aged children with SEMH difficulties, helping them navigate their educational and social challenges in a safe and inclusive setting. You will work closely with students to provide tailored support and create a positive, empowering atmosphere that encourages growth and learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for children with SEMH difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and engage positively with their peers.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and manage behaviour in a calm, supportive manner.
  • Work with teaching staff to monitor and track progress, providing feedback to help guide the child’s development.
  • Promote the social and emotional well-being of students, offering support as needed.
  • Create a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment that fosters positive mental health.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with children and young people with SEMH difficulties or other SEND needs.
  • Be patient, empathetic, and committed to supporting children’s emotional and social development.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals.
  • Be proactive and flexible, willing to use your initiative to support students’ individual needs.
  • Hold a relevant qualification or have substantial experience in a similar role.
  • Have a current, valid DBS or be willing to obtain one.
