Your new companyHays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with an expanding engineering business in Lowestoft who are looking for a part-time bookkeeper to work 30 hours a week, from Monday to Thursday. This will be a 6-month contract starting in January 2025.

Your new roleAs the part-time bookkeeper, you will report to the General Manager in Lowestoft and work closely with their regional Head Office, so you need to be self-motivated and able to work independently. You will take responsibility for all aspects of the purchase ledger from obtaining PO numbers, authorising invoices through to payments and dealing with supplier queries.

You will also manage raising sales invoices, allocating cash receipts and supporting the business with credit control. The payroll is processed by the Head Office, but you will be expected to collate the timesheets and forward the data to the payroll team as well as post payroll journals.

The role will also involve reconciling the ledgers and assisting at month-end. Therefore, we are looking for an experienced bookkeeper / assistant accountant who understands collating financial data for monthly reporting.What you'll need to succeedAs explained, this is a 6-month contract starting in January, so you will be immediately available and able to give 6-months+ commitment as the role may be extended.

You will have proven experience in double-entry bookkeeping and be able to manage purchase & sales ledger processing and prepare VAT returns, collate payroll data as well as respond to any finance queries from the wider finance team based at Head Office.
