Optical Dispensing Assistant– Loddon & Lowestoft

Contract Personnel are looking for an experienced Optical Dispensing Assistant for join our client’s friendly team. 

How does the day-to-day look?

  • Assisting in Dispensing
  • Offer the customer general advice and guidance
  • Implement minor repairs to frames
  • Carry out OCT, retinal photography, tonometry and visual field tests supplementary to an eye examination and to alert the optometrist to any unusual / abnormal features identified through these processes
  • Keep appropriate records and report to the Practice Manager as required
  • Selling & Customer Relationship Management
  • Maximise sales whilst minimising costs to ensure the achievement of specified margins and targets
  • Ascertain the wants and needs of each customer
  • Recommend, select and help locate or obtain merchandise based on customer needs and wants
  • Describe merchandise and explain its use, benefits, operation and care to customers
  • Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions as well as policies regarding payment, exchanges and security
  • Serve customers, bag and package purchases
  • Observe and identify security risks and theft and to prevent and attend to these occurrences appropriately
  • Ensure that the practice provides excellent customer service at all times, meeting and – where possible – exceeding customer expectations
  • Answer the telephones and deal with enquiries and appointments
  • Manage enquiries, complaints, refunds etc, as required
  • Implement the policies and procedures set out in the Employment Handbook
  • Contribute to positive working relationships within the team
  • Be aware of the needs of team members and to show them courtesy
  • Communicate effectively with others in the team
  • Work collaboratively with team members and management colleagues in order to meet the objectives of the business
  • Put forward ideas and feedback during team meetings in order to improve ways of working
  • Health & Safety / Environmental Health
  • Implement the legal obligation to maintain a safe working environment at all times
  • Follow the company’s procedures, as described in the Health & Safety Policy
  • Report anything unsafe to the Operations Director, and to report accidents, near misses, and so on in the accident book

Schedule: Full time – Saturdays included

Salary: £23,500 - £27,500 DOA
