We are looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our team in Lowestoft, Suffolk on a full-time permanent basis or part time for up to 30 hours, providing essential support to the Financial Controller.

About the role:

As an Accounts Assistant, you will play a vital role in managing and monitoring our Purchase Ledger processes while providing essential support to the Financial Controller. Your efforts will directly influence our mission to provide an exceptional buying experience for our customers. In this role you will work 5 days a week from 8am – 5pm.  Part-time hours will be considered where you could work 30 hours at a competitive salary of £30,000 pro rata.

Main duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Efficiently manage and monitor the Purchase Ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance. 
  • Accurately record and enter supplier invoices, ensuring they align with corresponding Purchase Orders. 
  • Assisting with Credit Control when required
  • Cross-check Purchase Ledger entries against payments made and promptly resolve discrepancies. 
  • Identify and address queries from internal staff and external suppliers in a timely manner. 
  • Chase customer Proforma payments as necessary and input invoices into the ERP system and maintain accurate records. 
  • Scan and manage bank payment receipts, delivery notes, stock adjustment forms, and invoices. 
  • Verify freight invoice details to ensure accuracy. 
  • Oversee credit account openings and perform supplier statement reconciliations. 
  • Post bank payments, take metre readings for utility suppliers, perform mailing duties, including franking and dropping off post. 
  • Assist with stock-take through spot checks on the two-bin system. 

 

About you:

You will be an experienced Accounts Assistant with a strong sense of commercial awareness. Your excellent communication and people skills enable you to work effectively with a diverse range of colleagues and suppliers. With a meticulous approach to your work, you possess high numeracy skills and thrive in maintaining accuracy under pressure. Flexibility and adaptability are part of your work ethos, and you constantly embrace change and challenges with a positive attitude.
