A growing and innovative engineering business specialising in anaerobic digestion (AD) technology is looking for a Process Engineer to join the team.Along with a salary of up to £35,000 per annum, you will receive a range of benefits including private healthcare, a pension scheme, ongoing investment and training, generous annual leave with service-based increases and expenses covered on occasional overnight stays. There may be flexibility/WFH options once initial training has been completed. You’ll join a friendly, expert team that supports AD plants across the UK—designing solutions for new installations, optimising existing sites, and improving plant safety and performance through best-in-class engineering.As Process Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
  • Creating design solutions for AD plants including calculations, P&IDs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Working closely with clients to capture requirements and translate them into practical design specs.
  • Selecting pumps, valves, and instrumentation, and documenting all specifications using your knowledge of process engineering principles.
  • Conducting and documenting site-based safety assessments in line with DSEAR regulations.
  • Carrying out full site surveys, overseeing equipment installations, and supporting the successful commissioning of process systems.
  • Contributing throughout the project lifecycle—from scoping and design through to build, install, and final testing.
What we’re looking for?
  • A degree in Process, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent practical experience).
  • Previous experience in process engineering—preferably in anaerobic digestion, wastewater, or related sectors.
  • A good grasp of instrumentation, pumping systems, and engineering drawings (AutoCAD 2D is useful).
  • Confidence producing engineering calculations (e.g., head loss, pump sizing).
  • The ability to create and interpret P&IDs and other technical documentation.
  • Comfortability travelling to client sites (overnight stays on occasion, with all expenses covered).
  • Strong communication skills with an interest in delivering sustainable engineering solutions.
