Connect2Luton are excited to recruit an Accountant (ASC) on behalf of Luton Borough Council.

Main purpose of position:

Luton Borough Council is seeking an experienced and suitably qualified accountant to join our Adult Social Care (ASC) finance team on a short-term, three-month basis with possible extension for another three months. This role will support our senior finance team in managing and analysing the financial aspects of our ASC services in response to the increased demand we are experiencing.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide expert financial support for Adult Social Care, focusing on budgeting, forecasting, and expenditure analysis.

Work closely with the Finance Business Partner and Principal Accountant for ASC to carry out in depth analysis of ASC cost, past and future trends and how Luton spend compares with national ASC picture.

Support management in delivering financial reports, assessments, and recommendations.

Collaborate with the wider finance team and stakeholders across departments to deliver insights into cost pressures, efficiency's, and service improvements.

Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and Council policies.

Supporting the ASC management and finance team in monitoring and reporting of the ASC deficit recovery plan including transformation savings and carrying out financial due diligence as required.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA) or Suitably Qualified with strong experience in public sector finance, preferably within ASC area.
  • Proven experience in financial planning, cost and demand in depth analysis with ASC area.
  • Ability to work independently, with strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
