At Engage we are working to increase the pool of support staff we can offer to Primary and Secondary Schools across Luton. The role will involve 1:1 or small group work supporting students with SEND, so a background supporting SEND is preferred. About the role:
The needs of the pupils they cater for range from:
- ASD (verbal and non-verbal)
- EHCPs
- Learning difficulties
- Complex needs
We are looking for SEND TA to work with an inclusion team across classes of pupils age 6-14 years old. The pupils all have SEND and have EHCPS or are highly likely to get one. The pupils are awaiting places at specialist SEND schools.
Staff may need to manage the pupils intimate care needs in terms of nappy changing and feeding. Any experience with PECS and Makaton is desirable along with an understanding of ASC, global delay and sensory needs. A strong knowledge of safeguarding is essential.
