A long-established, thriving manufacturer and distributor of high-quality wiring, lighting and electrical accessories which are widely specified by the major UK new build developers and are distributed through the electrical wholesale and retail DIY channels.

Your new role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and proactive individual, who thrives supporting a wide range of IT systems and is engaged and enthusiastic about supporting the user base through the company's helpdesk.

The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, providing essential technical support to the company's systems and IT infrastructure.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Helpdesk & User Support - supporting the helpdesk requests and user base across all businesses.
  • IT Systems and Infrastructure Project Support & Project Management - to support, plan and manage IT projects to agreed timescales and delivering against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Device Management - set up and configuration of user devices including PCs, laptops, mobile phones, peripheral devices, printers, photocopiers.
  • Networks and Systems - in conjunction with our key supplier partners, implement, support, monitor and maintain the company's wide area network including site to site VPN, local area networks including company and guest wi-fi networks, hosted servers.
  • Site Housekeeping - Server Room maintenance, disposal of redundant equipment, on-site IT.
  • IT Security - Work closely with our Head Office and implement security policies, manage the active directory, provide and manage access to company systems.
  • Microsoft 365 - to support and guide the development of the Microsoft 365 suite including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office suite and other apps to achieve business requirements.
  • Risk Management of Systems - monitoring the backups of hosted systems, ensuring systems are suitably documented, including network diagrams, passwords and users.
  • Business Reporting - providing routine and ad hoc system generated reports to internal stakeholders.
  • Supplier Collaboration - to work with key suppliers of IT applications and services to ensure equipment, systems and infrastructure meet business requirements.
  • Documentation - creating and maintaining policies, system user guides, project documentation, asset logs and directories.


What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in a customer or technical IT support role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organisation.
  • The ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Good working knowledge of IT Infrastructures including Helpdesk, connectivity, networks and security.
  • Good working knowledge in administration and support of Microsoft 365 Suite including Outlook, SharePoint, OneDrive, Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience of device set up including PCs, laptops, mobile phones, peripheral devices, printers, photocopiers.
  • The ability to demonstrate working with active directory, maintaining asset logs, deploying policies and associated IT documentation such as user guides.
  • Work effectively in a high pressure and deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and a thorough and accurate approach to work.
  • Resourceful with a can-do approach to tasks and projects and a desire to take full responsibility and accountability for day-to-day work delivery.
  • Drive, ambition and enthusiasm to deliver results and progress within the organisation.
