Public Health Consultant Opportunity£545 per day – Luton-based We are recruiting an experienced Public Health Consultant on behalf of the local authority. If you’re passionate about improving health outcomes and have the expertise to lead strategic health initiatives, we want to hear from you! About the Role The Public Health Consultant will work alongside the Director of Public Health and fellow consultants to enhance the health and wellbeing of Luton’s residents. As a strategic leader and change agent, you’ll guide health and social care objectives across public health, NHS, and social care frameworks, influencing resources and budgets across agencies to drive impactful, lasting change. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Health Initiatives: Develop systems to protect public health and ensure mandated health services are provided.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Influence council and partner boards to reduce health inequalities and promote health improvements.
  • Specialized Focus: Drive improved health outcomes for a specific client group (e.g., early years, mental health).
  • Crisis Management: Prepare and guide public health responses to major incidents, including health protection threats.
Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven leadership in change management and strategic thinking
  • Strong ability to influence senior leaders across organizations
  • Experience in media relations for public health promotion
  • Skilled in both quantitative and qualitative analysis (health economics, epidemiology)
  • Registered with Health, GMC, or UKPHR
  • In-depth understanding of the health and care system at local and national levels
