Are you a seasoned transport professional craving a new challenge? An opportunity to steer a renowned national distributor towards unprecedented heights? Look no further, for an exhilarating journey awaits as our client's new Transport Manager in Luton.

Our client operates a mixed fleet of c55 across primary trunking and secondary multi drop temperature controlled serving London, the South East and Midlands.

Our client needs your skills to develop and improve their day-to-day operations, ensuring their delivery commitments are fully met. Experience of both primary and secondary chilled multi drop food service, quick service/convenience food retail operations would be ideal.

Imagine yourself at the helm, navigating a vast delivery network. As the legally responsible person on the operator's licence, you'll be the guardian of health, safety, and compliance, ensuring every mile adheres to DVSA regulations.

But your impact will extend far beyond mere compliance. You'll be the strategic architect, crafting short and medium-term transport operational plans that propel the business towards its goals. With a keen analytical eye, you'll delve into performance metrics, identifying areas for optimisation and ensuring timely, flawless deliveries that exceed customer expectations.

Your leadership prowess will shine as you inspire a team of transport professionals and nurture their growth through training and performance management. Budgets for fleet, staffing, overtime, and agency usage will be your canvas as you masterfully optimise resources to drive efficiency and profitability.

Cross-functional collaboration will be a crucial skill as you create bonds with colleagues across the organisation, such as the Night Operations Manager and the Site Lead to ensure excellent customer service and to champion the interests of the transport domain.

Our client is looking for someone with a wealth of transport operations and logistics management experience and an extensive knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance, and health & safety protocols. Your ability to lead, develop, and motivate teams will be unparalleled, complemented by exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. Experience of multi drop deliveries into London and the South East especially to High Street delivery points and all of the inherent challenges would be extremely advantageous.

Budget management and resource optimisation will be second nature to you, fuelled by an analytical mindset that thrives on performance metrics. Strategic thinking will be your compass, guiding you as you drive operational plans that leave an indelible mark on the industry.

You'll be an excellent people manager with a coaching/mentoring mindset, an effective delegator, and a strategic leader. You will be financially astute and au fait with the commercials around managing a cost effective and quality chilled/frozen transport and distribution operation. You will have the experience and credibility to operate as part of the senior site leadership team whilst also very visible and hands on to get the job done and keep the team motivated and engaged to deliver the transport plan.

You must be CPC qualified with experience of holding an O licence and up to date on transport regulations, fleet compliance and health and safety. Experience of both a HGV, artic and LGV fleet will be essential.

This role is based at a main hub in Bedfordshire so your location should allow daily commuting to the site.
