We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Buyer to join our dynamic team. This role involves managing our supplier base, driving product development, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our Purchasing function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in OEM product sourcing and buying, with experience working with a global third-party supplier base.
Day-to-day of the role:- Supplier Management:
- Manage day-to-day commercial relationships with suppliers.
- Source products, assessing potential suppliers on various criteria including financial stability, product quality, and service levels.
- Negotiate supplier contracts and commercial terms to drive savings and supply chain efficiencies.
- Track market indices related to cost price movements and report on their impact on business profitability.
- Attend supplier meetings, trade shows, and business trips, ensuring timely completion of follow-up actions.
- Project Management:
- Manage new product introductions and resourcing activities, ensuring collaboration with internal teams to meet key milestones.
- Lead project review meetings, prepare minutes, determine actions, and report progress.
- Internal Stakeholder Support:
- Assist the product management team in optimising product offerings.
- Support commercial and marketing teams with tenders and promotional activities.
- Resolve supply chain issues in collaboration with the inventory control team.
- Work with the technical team to resolve product quality issues and achieve commercial resolutions.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet KPIs and implement action plans.
- Degree level education.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in an OEM product sourcing/buying role.
- Proven track record of delivering results, cost savings, and improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills.
- Effective negotiation skills and experience in procurement or supply chain roles.
- Strong interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and within a team.
- Highly organised, resourceful, and adept at managing high-pressure situations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Desirable: MCIPS or part CIPS qualification, ERP system experience, experience in sourcing electronics or lighting products.
