About the Role

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and families? We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team in Luton. In this pivotal role, you will be the first point of contact for initial queries and referrals, ensuring the safety and well-being of at-risk children.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Responding to Children's Social Care contacts and queries via phone and written communication.
  • Prioritising vulnerable children, offering guidance, advice, and recommending next steps.
  • Ensuring contacts are signposted or referred to the appropriate team for further investigation.
  • Collaborating with the MASH Deputy Team Manager and senior social workers to manage inquiries from the public, service users, and professionals.
  • Acting as a filter to prevent inappropriate cases from progressing, ensuring efficient case handling.

About You:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker with a strong background in child safeguarding to join our MASH team. In this high-pressure, multi-agency environment, you'll be responsible for managing initial contacts and referrals to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children.

  • Post-qualifying experience in child and family social work, with a focus on managing complex referrals and risk assessments in a fast-paced setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding procedures, risk management, and multi-agency collaboration.
  • A proven ability to uphold the highest standards of professional practice when dealing with urgent, sensitive cases.
  • Excellent communication and decision-making skills to work effectively with service users and coordinate with partner agencies, including police, health, and education professionals.
  • A Dip SW, CQSW, or equivalent qualification, and registration with Social Work England.
