Your New Position
As a Transport Section Leader, you will play a pivotal role in managing and optimising our transport operations. You will be responsible for ensuring that our delivery and collection services meet client Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and are executed efficiently and legally. This position requires a proactive leader who can effectively manage resources, maintain high service standards, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations
Responsibilited included (but not limited to)
- Resource Management: Effectively manage and plan driver and vehicle resources to achieve delivery/collection times and client SLAs.
- Service Level Maintenance: Ensure that service levels are achieved and maintained, in conjunction with other departments.
- Regulatory Compliance: Optimise resources and adhere to Working Time Directive (WTD) and drivers’ hours legislation.
- Legal Compliance: Ensure legal compliance regarding any defects, services, MOTs, etc.
- Incident Investigation: Investigate all incidents of fleet damage, Road Traffic Incidents (RTIs), and High Potential Near Misses (HPNMs), escalating to line managers for further support.
- Disciplinary Actions: Carry out disciplinary hearings, return to work meetings, and substance misuse procedures.
- Risk Assessments: Ensure any risk assessments at the depot are organised and carried out accordingly.
- Driver Briefings: Conduct pre-brief and debrief sessions with all drivers, ensuring company standards are maintained and adhered to.
Requirments for Success
- Knowledge & Experience: Significant knowledge and experience of tachograph/driving rules and regulations.
- Qualifications: CPC National is desirable but not essential.
- Management Experience: Previous management or supervisory experience.
- Skills: Strong planning and organising skills, high level of numeracy, and excellent negotiating skills with the ability to influence and steer.
- Efficiency Under Pressure: Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the Road Transport Directive and current drivers’ hours.
