Reporting to the Operations Manager you will lead all aspects of site activities to ensure safe, continuous, and efficient running of site operations. This role is a hands-on management role, whereby the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of leading operations on a COMAH site, to contribute to delivery of Safety Performance and EBITA budgeted expectations.

As the Work Manager, it will be your responsibility to:
  • Manage the performance and personal development of the Operations Team to drive behaviours aligned with our value of Safety First and Service Excellence
  • Lead the operations team to create a high performing culture where team members are motivated, engaged, and supported to develop and achieve their potential.
  • Plan and prioritise the day-to-day operations workload for the operations team
  • Management of HR-related aspects such as holidays, sickness, return-to-work interviews, and overtime.
  • Oversee new starter inductions/introductions and training (functional, along with policy and procedure) within operations.
  • Undertake Site Safety Assessments including Site Safety Walks, Risk Assessments, COSHH, Manual Handling, Workplace transport Assessments
  • Support site reporting and investigations into Accidents, Incidents, Miss-Loads and Near Misses
  • Support with Site Capital Projects and Improvements including Management of Change process
  • Support with the production of SOP's, site procedures for operational processes
  • Ensure that the permit to work system is in place and adhered to so that contractors and colleagues work safely at all times
  • Actively report on Operational and Safety performance KPIs
  • Actively engage in and instigate site improvement and excellence projects
  • Undertake customer installation inspections.
  • Undertake any reasonable tasks or duties assigned by the appropriate line managers from time to time, related to the effective and efficient performance of the job, and providing they are within the post holders skills and ability.
Your knowledge & experience:
  • Chemical industry background on a COMAH facility- Preferred
  • Experience in working in a Safety Driven environment Essential
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role, developing a motivated, engaged, and high performing team Experience in liquid process engineering in a manufacturing environment Preferred
  • Working knowledge of key regulations such as Health and Safety at Work Act, COMAH
  • Experience of warehousing and distribution preferable
  • National level 3 qualifications in related technical fields or maths & science essential.
  • IOSH Desirable.
  • NEBOSH Desirable
