This role involves problem-solving and hands-on engineering, focusing on producing high-quality prototypes within tight deadlines. You'll use your manufacturing and assembly expertise to develop creative prototyping solutions while ensuring everything meets quality standards and safety throughout the product development process.

Workshop Machinist CAD/CAM Programmer Duties:

  • Work closely with engineers and designers to develop product designs and deliver engineering prototypes from within the on-site workshop.
  • Program, set up, and operate CNC and manual machines to produce high-quality precision components and prototype assemblies.
  • Develop CNC programming techniques and best practices.
  • Inspect precision engineered components and assemblies to ensure adherence to specifications.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of the workshop's capabilities.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, following all safety protocols and promoting a culture of safety.
  • Track project timelines, ensuring tasks are completed on schedule and deadlines are met.

CNC Machinist CAD/CAM Programmer Skills:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in CNC programming, setup, and operation of both CNC milling machines and lathes
  • Extensive experience in the use of manual milling machines, lathes, sheet metal working and hand tools.
  • Proficiency in G-code programming and SolidCAM software.
  • Deep understanding of technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards..
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide engineers to achieve prototyping and production goals.
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling.
  • An awareness of developing manufacturing processes such as additive manufacturing technologies to support in-house capabilities in rapid prototyping.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail..
  • A degree or certification in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
