Position: In-House Employment CounselSalary: Up to £68KLocation: CheshireWorking Style: Hybrid working pattern in placeHours: Full Time Douglas Scott are working with an well-known British retailer looking to recruit into their In-House legal team. The role is open to a qualified solicitor from a Private Practise or In-House background. We're looking for someone who can work in a fast-paced environment and manage their own work load independently. About the Role: Working as part of the wider In-House legal function you will support the Head of Employment with claims against the business.The wider group has close to 30,000 employees and close to 1000 retail stores across the UK and European franchised stores. You'll need confidence to work alone and trust your own judgment while defending the wider business' reputation.Key Responsibilities:
  • Act in the business' best interest on all employment law defendant claims.
  • Offering expert, in-house legal advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring best practices and reducing the risk of litigation.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with key external stakeholders including brands, franchise partners and external counsel. 
  • Potential supervision of junior solicitors as the team expands.
What We’re Looking For:
  • 4-9 years PQE Solicitor.
  • Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales in Employment Law.
  • Strong knowledge of Employment law including handling Employment Tribunal Litigation.
  • Proven experience managing a complex caseload and supporting internal/external projects.
  • Advisory work on a full range of employment matters.
  • Good time management skills while managing your own caseload.
