Berry Recruitment are looking for an Assertive Outreach Worker on a 6 month contract to work for a local authority based at the Lyndhurst offices.

The hourly pay rate is 14.98 and working hours 37 per week Monday to Friday. (You may be asked to work outside normal working hours on occasions).

The main purpose of this role is to respond to reports of rough sleeping in locations around the community, build relationships with them and support a caseload to access benefit, health services and accommodation.

Own transport is preferred as you will need to travel to different locations for this role.

You will need an Enhanced DBS for this role.

Main Duties:

  • Actively engage with rough sleepers at their location
  • Support them to access benefit, welfare and health services and accommodation
  • Work in partnership with Homelessness and Housing Advice Officers and other support workers
  • Ensure they are encouraged to work towards an agreed support plan
  • Accurately record and update support plans, meeting notes and reports

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 proven years experience working with people with mental health issues, substance misuse and debt issues
  • Understanding of the problems facing vulnerable people with health and welfare needs, particular rough sleepers
  • Knowledge of the welfare benefit system and what benefits are applicable to our clients
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Administration and data entry experience
