Job Title: Press & Weld Laser Cutting/Punch Press Operative

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Laser Cutting/Punch Press Operative to join our client's production team. In this role, you will operate a range of machinery, including CNC flatbed lasers and punch presses, to fabricate metal components to the highest standards. You will work both independently and as part of a team to meet production targets while maintaining exceptional quality and adhering to health and safety standards.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain high-quality standards for both standard and bespoke metal products at all times.
  • Communication: Proactively communicate with supervisors, managers, and the Quality Control team regarding production progress, quality issues, and health & safety (H&S) concerns.
  • Work Area Management: Keep your work area clean, organised, and compliant with H&S regulations.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all health and safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

General Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in engineering sheet metal production, including setting and operating CNC flatbed lasers and punch presses.
  • Process Adherence: Follow internal processes and complete all necessary paperwork accurately.
  • IT Skills: Basic proficiency with IT systems.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Machine Experience: Previous experience in a manufacturing environment, ideally with knowledge of Trumpf and Mazak machinery.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Practical understanding of lean manufacturing principles and familiarity with 5S activities.
  • Forklift Licence: Valid forklift truck (FLT) licence.
  • Engineering Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings effectively.

  • Independence: Ability to work on your own initiative and manage deadlines effectively, even under pressure.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the capability to troubleshoot operational issues.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
