Job Title: Press & Weld Production Operative (General)
Department: Production Press & Weld
Reporting to: Press & Weld Area Supervisor
We are looking for a Production Operative to join our clients team. In this role, you will operate various machinery, both manual and automated, to produce metal components to a high standard. You will work independently and occasionally as part of a team, ensuring that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain exceptional quality standards for both standard and bespoke metal products.
- Communication: Proactively liaise with supervisors, managers, and the Quality Control team regarding production performance, quality issues, and health & safety (H&S) matters.
- Work Area: Ensure that your work area is kept clean, organised, and compliant with H&S regulations.
- H&S Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Experience: Previous experience in an engineering or sheet metal production environment.
- Quality Checks: Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure products meet required standards.
- Process Adherence: Follow established internal processes and complete associated paperwork accurately.
- IT Skills: Basic proficiency with IT systems.
- Manufacturing Background: Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Lean Manufacturing: Practical understanding of lean manufacturing principles and familiarity with 5S methodologies.
- Technical Skills: Ideally, experience with mechanical presses and spot welding, with a general understanding of sheet metal processing.
- Engineering Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings effectively.
- Independent Work: Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines, even under pressure.
- Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to troubleshoot operational faults.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Manual Dexterity: Attention to detail and manual dexterity.
- Teamwork: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Commercial Awareness: Understanding of production efficiency and commercial aspects.
- Work Management: Demonstrated ability to manage workload and engage positively with colleagues.
