Job Title: Press & Weld Production Operative (General)
Department: Production Press & Weld
Reporting to: Press & Weld Area Supervisor


Job Summary:

We are looking for a Production Operative to join our clients team. In this role, you will operate various machinery, both manual and automated, to produce metal components to a high standard. You will work independently and occasionally as part of a team, ensuring that production targets are met and quality standards are maintained.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain exceptional quality standards for both standard and bespoke metal products.
  • Communication: Proactively liaise with supervisors, managers, and the Quality Control team regarding production performance, quality issues, and health & safety (H&S) matters.
  • Work Area: Ensure that your work area is kept clean, organised, and compliant with H&S regulations.
  • H&S Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

General Requirements:
  • Experience: Previous experience in an engineering or sheet metal production environment.
  • Quality Checks: Conduct regular quality inspections to ensure products meet required standards.
  • Process Adherence: Follow established internal processes and complete associated paperwork accurately.
  • IT Skills: Basic proficiency with IT systems.

Qualifications/Experience:
  • Manufacturing Background: Proven experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Practical understanding of lean manufacturing principles and familiarity with 5S methodologies.
  • Technical Skills: Ideally, experience with mechanical presses and spot welding, with a general understanding of sheet metal processing.
  • Engineering Drawings: Ability to interpret engineering drawings effectively.

  • Independent Work: Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines, even under pressure.
  • Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills and the capability to troubleshoot operational faults.
