Attendance Officer - Lytham St AnnesMy client in Lytham is looking to appoint a dedicated Attendance Officer on a Temporary basis. The role will be part time on Thursdays and Fridays. The role will entail providing a specialist service to schools and public sector bodies, making contact with families online and at home to assess the factors affecting their child's attendance and raising attendance of individual pupils with a variety of challenges.You must have an Enhanced DBS to apply for this role, if you do not have one we will ask you to reapply for one before starting workAbout the role:Based in Lytham:

  • To ensure that all children of compulsory school age are admitted to school and attend regularly or receive education otherwise.
  • To advise schools and academies on strategies to promote regular and punctual attendance of all pupils.
  • To scrutinise registers on a regular basis to ensure absences are recorded in line with the DfE guidance.
  • To make unsupervised contact with families in response to allocated referrals i.e. home visits and/or meetings in schools.
  • To establish the reasons for non-attendance, make assessments and agree a plan for facilitating a return to school using appropriate strategies with specified timescales.
  • To process and respond to referrals to the Inclusion team within specified time response times.
  • To act as a duly authorised officer of the Directorate in the magistrates, youth and family proceedings courts.
  • To use the appropriate legal action to ensure that the Local Authority is carrying out its statutory responsibility in respect of pupils. This will include preparing witness statements, attending and presenting evidence in court and the processing of penalty notice fines or other legal sanctions introduced by statute.
  • To be responsible for holding any statutory orders made in the Magistrates or Family Proceeding Courts, such as Education Supervision Orders and Parenting Orders

About you:You will have the following skill sets or experiences:

  • NVQ 4 - Learning, Development & Support Service (LDSS) related occupation to the post or equivalent
  • Recent and relevant experience of direct work with children, young people, parents and families preferably within an educational context
  • Experience of using IT systems to compile reports as well as analysing statistical data for monitoring purposes
  • Ability to be able to persuade and negotiate as well as good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of safeguarding procedures, child protection issues and law and regulations relating to safeguarding
  • Full UK Driving Licence
