A leading multi-disciplinary design & build contractor is seeking an accomplished Lead Electrical Engineer to support the Term Framework Design Manager in delivering cutting-edge, sustainable, and cost-effective clean energy solutions within the highly regulated pharmaceutical sector.

This Lead Electrical Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to blend technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, contributing to high-profile projects and operational excellence.


Role Responsibilities: Lead Electrical Engineer

  • Provide leadership and support to the Electrical Design Team, ensuring efficient project delivery and resource allocation.
  • Conduct interim audits of electrical design projects, ensuring adherence to quality standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to promote collaboration and optimise workload prioritisation.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of design deliverable schedules for accurate project costing.
  • Review and approve design drawings and documentation prior to client submission.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Undertake feasibility studies, including Class D Estimates, to support tendering activities.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, including graduates and trainees, fostering technical excellence.
  • Deliver projects to agreed time, quality, and cost targets, meeting client KPIs.
  • Drive innovation and value engineering within the Electrical Design Team.
  • Collaborate with the portfolio lead to ensure timely delivery of design outputs aligned with project stage gates.


Candidate Profile: Lead Electrical Engineer

  • Chartered/Incorporated Engineer or actively pursuing Chartership.
  • Proven experience as a Lead Electrical Engineer within a regulated sector.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (preferred).
  • Extensive knowledge of BS7671, Building Regulations, and CDM 2015.
  • Proficiency in electrical and instrumentation design.
  • Experience with Hazardous Area (ATEX) design (Compex qualification desirable).
  • Familiarity with fire system design in accordance with BS5839.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects across the RIBA lifecycle stages.
  • Working knowledge of LV distribution systems and digital engineering tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaborative skills.
